It is with profound sadness that we share news of the sudden and unexpected passing of Conor Doherty-Craig, son of our GP partner, Dr Maria Doherty. Our thoughts and condolances are with Maria and her entire family at this devastating time.

Conor was studying in Wellington, New Zealand, working towards a conjoint Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, with graduation only months away. Alongside his studies he built a genuine career as a young entrepreneur. He co-founded Techne, an e-learning platform created to teach coding and digital literacy to New Zealanders of every age, beginning with schools across the Lower North Island. Conor described the ambition behind it simply: “if we can allow every Kiwi kid to have better access to digital literacy, then why not extend that to the world.” He dreamed the biggest dreams and then made them come to life.

Those who knew him described Conor as confident, warm and utterly unfazed.

Those who worked alongside him remember a young man with drive, determination and a distinctly Irish sense of humour. An infectious enthusiasm and glinting charm. He gave everything he had to the people and projects he believed in, and he leaves behind a body of work, and a circle of people, far larger than his years would suggest.

We ask that you keep Maria and her family in your thoughts over the coming weeks, and we thank you, as always, for your kindness and patience.
